Goals

Once the boy sees there is a way that he can find his dream and actually travel to the land of Foreverly, he begins striving to make it happen. It becomes his obsession. In pursuit of his dream, he gets to the point of trying crazy ideas. He believe he can get there under his own power. This type of behavior can be extreme, or sometimes its just being stubborn or proud. Having pride in your ideas or your work is definitely not a bad thing, unless it takes over your thinking and causes a loss of humility. It’s important to remember that we all need help at times, help to make our ideas become reality, or help to do something we know is important to us or others.

Have you ever tried really hard, tried your absolute best to do something and still failed? Of course, it’s important not to give up, but it’s just as important to get humble and realize when it’s time to ask for help. Can you imagine what it would be like if everything you tried to do was easy? What would you do, if you knew you could do or have anything you wanted with just a clap of your hands, like magic? Now, here is a game you can play with your imagination, but you really need to think it through carefully. For example, you might imagine that you want to be more powerful than everyone else and be ruler of the world. However, achieving that goal might not be such a good thing because of the demands and responsibilities you would have for everything and everyone. God knows when your imaginings and desires aren’t going to do anything good for you. It’s nice to know we can be protected from our own wrong ideas and fake goals.

Maybe you can start imagining a goal that’s more realistic. For example, is there a sport you would try if you knew you could immediately do it like a pro? That rarely, if ever happens but you could develop the desire to practice until you accomplish a skill. Have you ever become tired of trying to do something because its too hard to keep on trying again and again? Have you ever asked for help to accomplish something? How did it turn out? The truth is that if you have a goal that is also a pure desire of your heart, God will help you accomplish it if you ask, or you’ll be guided in another direction. God isn’t pushy. God waits for your invitation, your answer, because you have already been invited to be part of the eternal plan for our world. It’s so big, we can even see it with our little eyes. We can only see the part we are supposed to play, and that is enough for now. When a goal is part of God’s big idea, a seed of hope is planted in your heart. It grows into a desire that might finally become a goal that you can accomplish when you ask for help. With God, all things are possible.
